How big a Hog Roast or Spit Roast should I order ?
The secret of a successful Hog Roast or Spit Roast event is to slightly over order whatever meat package desired. This allows for those guests, and there always are some, who will ask for extra generous servings and / or seconds.
Our Standard Hog Roast package serves up to one hundred portions so would be recommended for events with guest numbers around seventy to eighty. The chef must never be put in a situation where he has to stretch the meat available or say No to the guest up for his third roll before other guests have been served their first.
The basic rule of thumb when ordering your Hog Roast, Spit Roast or Lamb Roast is to order roughly twenty to thirty portions more than the number of invited guests.
On the rare occasion when there are left-overs the chef will work with the client to transfer the meat that’s left into something from the client’s kitchen to be offered later in the evening to late arrivals or to be used the next day or, as we only use fresh free-range meat, to be frozen to be used at a later date.
Big Roast want all their events to be great successes and one way to ensure this is to make sure no one goes home hungry.
